Classes and so on

09/11/08 | by Charlie [mail] | Categories: Yale Daily News, Classes

First, yes this is the second post today (third I guess), don't let that confuse you. Well, almost through with the first full week of classes, which is both exciting and scary. The workload seems to be in full swing now and I have finalized my schedule to be turned in Monday, not to mention IMs start on Friday. Things are really picking up at Yale...

Follow up:

Before I get too far into classes I would be remise not to point out the article and picture (click the picture for a biger view) in todays paper. It's a big color picture in print.

Computer Science is pretty easy thusfar. The whole course is taught in a language called Scheme, which is a really stupid language. but whatever, I'll learn it.

German is one of those things that is just sucking right now. I love the teacher and the class, but realistically I am probably at a German L2.5 level, not L3. I got a C+ on my first quiz, and the test is tomorrow. Granted we took a practice test today and I did well (despite almost sleeping through the class). Anyways, there are tutors which I might have to utilize if the trend continues. Good news is that as classes goes on, I am remembering more and more.

On the flip side, consumer culture is fun. I turned in my first paper Tuesday and to my surprise received an A. He referenced Warcraft about three times in the discussion so I think he liked the paper! I was pretty nervous about writing about video games for a college class, but I think it worked out. It's really a quick read which can be found here. Who knows maybe I will make it at Yale after all.

Lots of work ahead, so I better get started on that German studying and some other reading. Big day and big weekend coming up!
