Learning to Type

10/01/08 | by Charlie [mail] | Categories: Technology

So I decided that I should probably learn to type today. It isn't working all that well so far but I think that a little practice should do the trick. As I looked for a program to use I came across something called the Dvorak Keyboard Layout. It turns out that it's much more efficient than the other keyboards as more of the stuff you use resides on the home keys. Check out this site to compare what typing out War of the Worlds would take on various keyboard layouts. It's shows that the new layout requires much less finger movement and more of the letters are on the home keys. So maybe I'll just skip qwerty and give that one a try. Anyways, interesting piece of information I thought I'd share with you as I struggle with learning to type.
