Random Observations

I noticed it's been awhile since I posted last. Here are some random thoughts:

Lawsuits:
I've always had the belief that people shouldn't be allowed to sue for stupid things. Spilling coffee on yourself, falling into a manhole, injuring yourself while attempting to rob someone, etc. However, recently the courts hit an all new low.

In a story straight out of the deepest recesses of the WTF files, Wells Fargo Bank has filed a lawsuit against itself.

Wells Fargo Bank filed a civil complaint against itself in a mortgage foreclosure case in Hillsborough County, Florida due to what the bank claims is a requirement under local law. “Due to state foreclosure laws, lenders are obligated to name and notify subordinate lien holders,” a Wells Fargo spokesman told Fox Business.

Wells Fargo holds the first and second mortgages on the condominium, as holder of the first, Wells Fargo is suing all other lien holders, including the holder of the second, which is itself. Court documents label “Wells Fargo Bank NA” as the plaintiff and “Wells Fargo Bank NA” as a defendant.

The bank has even hired defense lawyers and has filed a defense answer to their own complaint.

...yeah. Although I can see the semi-logic behind this...why? Aren't there better things for everyone involved to be doing?

Speaking of having better things to be doing, I was hard at work recently when I took off my headphones for a second. All of the sudden I heard "Single Ladies" blaring from the cube next to me. I find it humerous when extremely nerdy male programmers have Single Ladies as their ringtone. Lesson learned, keep it on vibrate.

I was in a McDonald's recently with an foreign visitor grabbing lunch. As we approached the counter, an Amish family came in behind us. Shortly thereafter, a man approached us and proceeded to tell us all about his Uncles auto repair business in Houghton which had recieved best in the state honors. We were encouraged to go there if we had any questions (Keeping in mind the McDonalds was around Clare). As we left the place, my friend jokingly commented...This is what I think of when I think of America. Oh how true.

I proudly still drive a mini-van around, which thankfully doesn't need any auto repairs from the aforementioned uncle above. However I do find some of my mini-van experiences slightly ironic. It's not in the best shape, but it gets by. One day I had just parked to watch my brothers baseball game, when a country guy, driving a newish Cadillac CTS approached me and asked if I had any jumper cables. Obviously, yes, I did. We proceeded to jump his car which is ten years newer than mine.

In a similar incident, I was driving home from work when I realized that I had ~0 miles to empty. I made it to the nearest Speedway and filled up. Just as I was getting to leave a car pulls up behind me, promptly sputters, and dies. The woman gets out and asks me if I have a gas can (I don't). Instead we simply pushed her car (Also better than mine), up to the pump to be filled. Remember, it's not your car...it's how you use it :)

There's never a shortage of interesting stories around my life, hopefully you all have been having good summers as well. More topical stories to come soon!
